IMPLEMENTATION

Respondus Monitor is a test proctoring system that uses the audio-visual capabilities of a student's desktop or laptop. (This does not work with the operating system of a phone.)

To implement Respondus, faculty first need to create a quiz/test/exam in Canvas. It is recommended to select the NEW QUIZ format.

Respondus Monitor is an extension of the LockDown Browser and is accessed via a link in the navigational menu.

LockDown Browser

The LockDown Browser link contains all of the assessments that are in a quiz format under the DASHBOARD tab. The other tabs of interest provide content for GETTING STARTED and GUIDES & SUPPORT which, among other things, has a link for 24/7 support.

By selecting the SETTINGS from the drop-down menu of an assessment, the options for the LockDown Browser and Monitor become visible.

Require Respondus Monitor

Under the Respondus Monitor section, select Require Respondus Monitor to view options for the settings.

STARTUP SEQUENCE

There are few different parameters that can be selected for the quiz. The options that are NOT selectable are WEBCAM CHECK and FACE DETECTION. The parameters are outlined in resource materials provided in the Tutorial tab. Here is an informative video from the support collection.
