IMPLEMENTATION
Respondus Monitor is a test proctoring system that uses the audio-visual capabilities of a student's desktop or laptop. (This does not work with the operating system of a phone.)
To implement Respondus, faculty first need to create a quiz/test/exam in Canvas.
It is recommended to select the NEW QUIZ format.
Respondus Monitor is an extension of the LockDown Browser and is accessed via a link in the navigational menu.
STEP 1: Select the Quiz/Test/Exam
First, build your assessment. The assessment has nothing to do with the LockDown Browser, so there is no alteration on the content. The LockDown Browser simply a switch.
- Select LockDown Browser from the navigational menu on the left-hand side of the page.
- Select the drop-down menu for the particular assessment that you want to lockdown.
STEP 2: Choose the Parameters
- Select the radial button for Require LockDown Browser for this exam.
- This is the section for the Advanced Settings that is accessed by selecting the "+." There are some useful options provided, and links Explain their function.
STEP 3: Save and Close
After setting your parameters, Save + Close the dialog window.
Require Respondus Monitor
Under the Respondus Monitor section, select Require Respondus Monitor to view options for the settings.
STARTUP SEQUENCE
There are few different parameters that can be selected for the quiz. The options that are NOT selectable are WEBCAM CHECK and FACE DETECTION. The parameters are outlined in resource materials provided in the Tutorial tab. Here is an informative video from the support collection.
