Canvas STUDIO Overview

Summary

The goal of this guide is to familiarize the user with the visual and navigational layout of the Canvas Studio application. By taking a bird's-eyed view of the application, the user will become more comfortable with the application's overall scope and functionality.

STUDIO DESKTOP

A.) We can access the STUDIO through the link in the global navigational menu to the left. The first aspect of STUDIO to recognize that the link is located on the global navigational menu. What this means is that the media that is created, collected, and organized is NOT attach to course curricula, but your user account. 

B.)  An account with no media will display a message, "Nothing here yet!" By clicking either the ADD VIDEOS or CREATE in the upper corner, you can start the acquisition process.

ADD MEDIA

Clicking create +CREATE reveals the drop-down menu. The first item to be considered is ADD MEDIA.

MEDIA ACQUISITION

The two panel pop-up window provides options for adding online media and locally stored media.

STUDIO CAPTURE

Another option on the CREATE drop-down menu is the the STUDIO CAPTURE function. 

When clicked, a window pops-up and begins streaming your camera's image. The settings box at the bottom of the window, which has been given emphasis with a red box, has a few important settings: (left to right) camera input, mic input, Screen Capture, and recording control.

SCREEN CAPTURE

Clicking the SCREEN CAPTURE setting presents the option to enable (or disable) screen capture.

SCREEN SHARE OPTIONS

By selecting ENABLE, a dialog window appears with a number of options for sharing your screen, ranging from tabs in the browser to an application window, or the the entire screen. Also, understand that you will have to set permission on your computer's settings to allow sharing.

SAVING THE VIDEO CAPTURE

When you stop recording, a window pop-up with options for saving or re-recording the video. This window has a player built-in. allowing you to preview the record. Therefore, you are able to review before saving or re-recording the video. 

Lastly, name the video before saving.

💡 Troubleshooting & Tips

  • Issue: Cache Clearing
  • Recommendation: The platform is tested on the CHROME web browser.
