Configuring Office/Remote location settings in Outlook

Instructions to set and view "in office" vs "remote" location status in Microsoft Outlook.

📌 Purpose

  • To standardize the sharing of work hours and work location for team efficiency.

⚙️ Steps for set-up 

In Outlook:

  • Go to Settings > Calendar > Work hours and location
  • Set your work hours for each day - OIT staff standard hours are 8;30-4:30pm, but adjust accordingly
  • Set your location for each day
  • Check box "Show work location on my calendar"
  • Set “Share your location” to “Can view all details”

Note: 

If “Office” isn’t an entry on the location drop down, you can type it manually.

💡 Additional Tips

  • There are minor differences in set-up between Windows and macOS operating systems.
  • Check with team mates or director to verify if this set-up achieved goal of visibility.
