âšī¸ About the Loaner Pool
All students are expected to have a personal device capable of completing their coursework. The TSC loaner program is not a substitute for owning a device — it exists to bridge specific, temporary gaps. Our inventory is limited, and when loaners are not returned on time or issued outside qualifying criteria, students with genuine needs go unserved.
Please review the eligibility criteria below before visiting the TSC desk.

Who Qualifies?
There are two qualifying scenarios. Each has different loan terms.

Duration |
| Personal device currently in for repair |
Short-Term |
Up to 7 days |
| Verified financial need (Mercy Resource Fund approval required) |
Long-Term |
Based on approval |
đĢ The following do NOT qualify for a loaner:
- "My laptop is old or slow" — loaners are not issued for performance complaints.
- "I forgot my laptop" — loaners are not issued for convenience.
- "I don't have a laptop" — students are expected to have a personal device. Not having one is not a qualifying reason unless financial need is verified through the Mercy Resource Fund.
- Faculty-initiated requests — these require supervisor review at the TSC before any loaner is issued.
đ ī¸ How to Request a Loaner
- Visit the TSC desk and explain your situation. Staff will work through the eligibility criteria with you.
- If your device is in for repair, please provide the repair ticket or confirmation.
- If you have a software or class requirement, bring documentation (e.g., course name, professor name, or the specific software needed).
- If you have a financial need, you must first apply through the Mercy Resource Fund before a long-term loaner can be issued — see below.
- If approved, staff will log the loan, issue the device, and confirm your return date. Note the return date — a hold will be placed on your student account for overdue devices.
đ
Return Expectations
- Short-term loaners must be returned within 7 days or by the agreed return date.
- If your repair extends past 7 days, contact the TSC before your due date to verify and extend if applicable.
- Return loaners promptly if your need resolves early (e.g., your personal device is repaired ahead of schedule).
- Overdue devices will result in a hold placed on your student account through the Business Office.
đ° Mercy Resource Fund
The Mercy Resource Fund supports students experiencing financial hardship that affects their ability to meet academic technology requirements. It is the primary pathway for students who need longer-term device support.
| Who it's for |

đ Note for Business Program Students:
Business students are required to have a Windows-based laptop capable of running Microsoft Office 365. This is a program requirement. If your device does not meet this spec, the TSC cannot issue a loaner as a replacement — however, if you have a verified financial need, you may be eligible for the Mercy Resource Fund. Use the application link in the section above to get started.
đĄ Troubleshooting & Tips
- Device not returned by due date: TSC will contact you. If there is no response, a hold will be placed on your account through the Business Office.
- Short-term loan extending past 7 days: Contact the TSC before your due date. Do not wait until after — extensions are not automatic.
- You have a Chromebook or iPad: These may not support required applications.
- You need a loaner for a faculty-initiated reason: TSC staff must review with a supervisor first. Allow additional time and do not expect same-day issuance.
- You're unsure if you qualify: Visit the TSC desk and staff will walk through the criteria with you. If you don't qualify, they can explain why and point you toward the right resource.
