Simple Syllabus: Previous Semester Import

📌 Simple Syllabus: Previous Semester Import

For those who teach a course with regularity, the importation of canvas content and the syllabus is simplified, however, there are a couple of details that need attention. In this article we review the these issues.

In Canvas, permissions are structured based-on individual authorship. If you created the course, you are able to access the course, e.g. you can import or export the course. If you want to import another faculty's course, the two choices are to ask the faculty to create a course package or share through the Canvas Commons, OR contact the LMS administrator. However, to import the content from a course that you have taught in a previous semester, you can easily select the import link on the settings page. Refer to this instruction set for details: https://support.salve.edu/TDClient/108/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=2256#Import-Previous.

Overview

Now, if you are teaching the same course and you import your content from a previous semester, then the Simple Syllabus will most likely load from that course as well. Any changes can be made to your content. However, you will still be required to complete the first two fields. These fields are more pronounced because of the red outline. THESE FIELDS MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE THE SYLLABUS CAN BE SUBMITTED.

SECTIONS

  1. A. COURSE DETAILS - This field requires the details, including days, times, meeting space.
  2. B. INSTRUCTOR INFORMATION - The field requires an email address.
  3. C. SUBMIT - This button sends the syllabus to the archive. The syllabus can be changed and re-submitted, so do not feel that this draft is final.
