This article explains the wireless networks (SSIDs) available at Salve Regina University, who theyβre intended for, and how to connect. These segmented networks support secure access for various users and devices across campus.

Instructions
SALVE-COMMUNITY
Purpose:
Personal device connectivity (BYOD)
Best For:
Faculty, staff, and students connecting laptops, tablets, and smartphones
Access Requirements:
Valid Salve Regina credentials
Device must not be managed by Salve IT
MAC filtering is in place
Details:
Ideal for everyday academic use such as note-taking, streaming, or accessing university services from your personal device. After connecting to the SSID, users will be redirected to a registration portal where they associate their devices using their Salve credentials. Users will have access to the Internet. Access to internal resources is not allowed.
SALVE-GUEST
Purpose:
Temporary guest access
Best For:
Visitors, event attendees, or contractors
Access Requirements:
Self-registration via captive portal
No Salve credentials required
Details:
Supports temporary Internet access for browsing, communication, or presentations during events. This guest network has been modernized and offers more security which includes a user verification system. All guests who wish to use our wireless services will need to provide a valid, personal email address as part of the process. Login credentials will be displayed on the screen and emailed to user at the email address specified as confirmation. They will need these credentials to log into the guest network on campus.
SALVE-ADMIN
Purpose:
Secure network for university-managed devices
Best For:
University-issued laptops, desktops, and workstations
Access Requirements:
Pre-configured Salve asset
WPA2 Enterprise authentication
Meets compliance standards (e.g., antivirus, policy)
Details:
Designed for trusted, Salve Regina owned, IT-managed devices with broad access to university systems and enhanced security monitoring. The devices on this network have the ability to access internal resources if the user has the proper permissions to access them. For example: Colleague and network shared drives. All Salve Regina assets will automatically detect this network and connect to it based on the updated configuration settings pushed through our management system.

Troubleshooting & Tips
Issue:
Unable to connect to SALVE-COMMUNITY β Check your credentials, ensure the device isnβt blocked, and try forgetting and reconnecting.
Issue:
Guest unable to connect β Make sure the user completes the full registration page. If connection times out, retry the registration process.
